Xingu Cosmology
According to Xingu cosmology, the first humans were made out of wooden logs by the Creator by blowing tobacco smoke over them. The Creator also attempted to bring them back to life after their deaths and failed. The irreversibility of death is commemorated in the ceremony of Kuarup, with the trunks of the wooden logs serving as symbol of the deceased.
