On the first day of Parliament's winter session 2010, the Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed the Orissa Bill and approved the name of Orissa state to 'Odisha', and its language to 'Odia' from Oriya. It is the ninth largest state by area in India, and the eleventh largest by population. Orissa has the largest number of tribes, as many as sixty two. In terms of percentage they constitute an impressive 24 percent of the total population of the state.
