Body design
Body design communicates social status and personal mood. The first step is to cover the body with oil made from pequi fruit, providing a base for other pigments. After the application of the oil, the area to be painted may be smeared with a contrasting background of charcoal scraped from a handy log stored in the men`s house for this purpose. The actual designs are in urucu by hand or with a small wooden stylus.
