Ao Naga Grandmother
The Ao’s are one of the major Naga tribes of Nagaland, Northeast India. The large, very old translucent carnelian with bugle-shaped brass is specific to Ao pieces of this style among the Nagas, with cobalt glass and an unusual curved shell bead at the bottom. The origin or meaning of the bugle shape is up to conjecture still.
